The Roses Amongst The ThornsI felt the excitement and anticipation last Friday. I was excited to meet Lysa that night, and elated to watch a blowout San Beda Red Lions game (vs. a hapless EAC Generals Team) at National Sports Grill.
However, it is not just me who’s excited that night. I can think of two persons having butterflies in their stomachs due to great anticipation. Who are they? And why are they so excited? Well friends, your guess is as good as mine.

Cholo: “Huh? Ako ba?”
Drek Drek: “Ala ka talagang wenta cholo, dito na lang ako ke gwafs. Gwafs, ano masasabi mo sa mga bisita natin?”

Motu: “How about you Junas?...Junas? ..Junas?
Manok: “Wala. Sakit sa ulo ang mga gels. Gutom na ako…Junas gumising ka na at mag-KFC na tayo.”

Manok to fried chicken: “Pasensya na…(to the tune of the Eheads’s “Torpedo”)”
Motu: “Ok sila…OKEEEEYY!”
Lysa: “Patay ka sa akin mamaya…”
Gwafs: “Teka lang guys, kunan ko ang grupo for posterity purposes”

Bizarre Love TriangleHello Team!
Before jumping into any conclusions, let me explain what I meant by the title, Bizarre Love Triangle. Aside from it being a song title from one of my fave new wave bands, New Order, the title’s every word would describe last night’s EB: it was a bizarre yet enjoyable experience which showcased love and camaraderie among team skullies members and of course…the triangle…that unique shape which can be usually found at the tip of deathbringer’s knife collection…patusok..paTULIS….’nuff said.
As usual, the hoity-toity group’s meeting place was held at Fafa Che’s shop in the 2nd floor of Greenbelt 1. Kung san man ang plano, eh hindi pa namin alam. Let nature take its interc..este, course.
Ang Unang Tagpuan: The Razon’s EncounterChe: “San na kaya ang mga yun? Hangtagal-tagal naman.”
Motulo: (sagwa pakinggan) “Heto na kami fafa che!!”
Che: “Tagal nyo! Gutom na ako. Razon’s tayo. So let’s go.”
Che: “Ate, bigyan mo ako ng isang halo-halo.”
Cholo: “Ay ako din. Tsaka……konting biles.”
Motuchelo: “Hmmm…no more lonely rice.”
Hemerson: “Huli kayo balbon! I’m here na!”
Junas: “I’m here na din also (din at also = redundant)”
Hemerson: “hwag mo na sabihing halos sabay tayo dumating, sabihin pa nila chamba.”
Dek: “Hi switiks!” (the demonic look)
Junas: “Sino pa kaya dadating?”
Dek: “Ang tagal naman NYA dumating” (cue music: “Bangkang Papel” from the Batibot Soundtrack…so romantic)
Jeffersno Moralse: “Wag kayong magulo, andito na ako…..at si Megatron.” (cue sound effect: kukukikukuk)
And so the thorns have arrived before the roses.
Shortly after consuming the sumptuous pancit luglug and halo-halo, the bhoys (jologs spelling) decided to return to the comfort of fafa che’s shop to await the arrival of our two roses….well, there’s another thorn arriving, but the team doesn’t share the same “rosy” anticipation upon his arrival hwahahaha!
Have Faith, Will TravelThe arrival of the first rose, gave the boys faith. Faith that this night will be one hell of a night.
Faith: “Hello mahal…I’m with them na. don’t worry, cute lang sila…hindi sila threat sa yo”.
Faith: “So san tayo guys?”
Thorns: “Kahit san.”
Jeff: “Ako kakain ako. Di pa ako kumakain.”
Motu: “Kain ulit? Kakakain ko lang a.”
Junas: “Wendy’s na lang tayo! Yey!”
Group: “Hindi kame gutom! Aw!”
Cholo: “ang tagal naman NYA dumating.” (cue music: “Pag-Ibig Ko’y Metal” by The Thinkers – Jograd de la Torre’s band)
Faith: “Cool ka lang dude. Lapit na yun. Have faith.”
Speak To Me Rachel True enough, the 2nd rose arrived. She arrived mere seconds away from the latecomer wafull. Her arrival gave the boys hope of not contracting Empacho from eating too much.
Faith: “Sis, kanina ka pa NILA (2 tao to), hinihintay.”
Rachel: “Me ganon?”
Faith: “Tara na! Cable Car tayo! Videoke and Billiards.”
ALL: “TARA!!!”
Motu: “Cholo, ishneaky ka”
Cholo: “Ha? Ako ba?”
Hemerson: “I agree. Huwaaat?!”
Dek: (Silent. Observant.)
Dek: “Chong, ano sa tingin mo? Me pag-asa ba?” (sabay akbay)
Hemerson: “Di ko matantya. Tanungin natin si Jeff.”
Dek: “Jeff, ano sa tingin mo?” (sabay akbay ke jeff)
Jeff:”Well, sila ang magkatabi naglalakad, at nandito ka…”
Dek: “Ayus a…sige alam ko na sagot wag mo na ituloy…” (cue music: “Lately” by Stevie Wonder)
And so the group went on to what will be their mecca for the night…

(cue music: “Bizarre Love Triangle”)
The Cable Car ExperienceCholo: “Hwaah! Kapagod maglakad!”
Motu: “Parang sasabog na pantog ko.”
Jeff: “I feel you eric. I feel you.”
Jeff: “Cholo, samahan mo na si fafa eric.”
Cholo: “Great idea. Ako din naano na.”
Motu: “Pwede konting biles? Sasabog na.”
Motu: “Ooooohhh! Lala! Sarap sarap ng feeling!”
Cholo: “ang dami dami nito fafa para sa yo lang lahat yan.”
The Team went on to divide themselves among two groups…one, the kantateros and the other, the tumbokers…
The tumbokers, cholo and dek proceeded to have a “friendly duel”, ang side bet: winner gets to have a duet with Rachel.
Dek: “Tong tira na to para ke sweetie. Hoy cholo, tignan mo ang laki ng titiret ko.”
Cholo: “Yun na yun? Watch this dekhead!”
Dek: “Ayus a. ubos na to sa ken.”
Cholo: “yung yabang mo lang naubos e. eto talagang ubos na. watch and learn. Hmmmm?”
Cholo: “I won dekhead! You lose!Now if you would excuse me…I have to go to the other room for my duet….awww!”
While cholo is having the time of his life with ehem…the other tumbokers played:
Hemerson vs. Junas : The battle of the newbies
Wafull vs. Jeff vs. Motu = The Battle of Nevermore (never maipasok ang bola)
Meanwhile, at the hall of the kantateros…
Faith: “Ano ba yan? Ako lang pumipili ng kanta!” (not minding Junas)
Faith: “Out of reach…”
Junas: “Everytime You Go Away…”
Motu: “Coz I don’t wanna feel the pain in my heart.”
Wafull: “yeah yeah yeah!”
Hemerson: “the doggone girl is mine!”
Faith and Hemerson: “nothing I can say but total eclipse of the heart”
Jeff: “And nothing else matters”
Cholo: “Handa ka na ba?”
Rachel: “Umpisahan na natin.”
Junas: “Daliiiiiiiii umpisahan nyo na pleaseee!”
Ayiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Cholo: “Turuan kita mag-billiards?”
Rachel: “Yah sure.”
Cholo: “Here’s how you tumbok the white ball.”
Che: “Dek, oks ka lang ba?
Dek: “Op kors! Wala naman sa akin yun. Besides, alam nyo naman na me kuwan ako. Hehe! Di ba guys?”
Cholo: “so ok lang pala talaga dek?”
Of course, as the old saying goes…pictures never lie.
Ok lang ba dek? Eh ano to?: habang nag duduet sila…
….Naglaro ka mag-isa.

Dek: “Hinde ok! I changed my mind! She’s mine cholo!
Cholo: “No dekhead! She’s mine!”
Rachel: “guys wag na kayo mag-away dahil kaibigan ko si

Ayun naman pala e. malinaw! Teka lang me umaapila pa. papektyur daw mga middle eastern fans mo hemerson. (Yung katabi ni hemerson, yung “fan” niya na foreigner…nagandahan sa boses nya….HAYIP!)
Middle Eastern guy beside emerson: “If you don’t allow us to get a picture wth you, I will bomb your country!”
Motu: “SMILE!!” (with trembling hands)
